disassembled flowers

The ending of summer marks the end of the colourful garden.  The vibrancy of flowers (unless you buy imported cut flowers, or grow your own in a greenhouse) will not return until next year.  I eagerly await the crocuses signalling the return of spring.

In my internet travails I found this series of photographs, and I think they sum up quite well the position we’re in now, with the beckoning of winter and the dropping temperatures.  (They say it’s going to be quite a wintery winter, you know…)  The colour and shape of the petals are depicted simply for their glory, whilst their delicacy, fragility and impermanence are intimated.  Very powerful images.

I think the gerbera, hydrangea, and orchid are my favourites.  Which are yours?
